It’s been a hot, dry August. And the creatures are very active in the woods. The coyotes are sticking to the path at the bottom of the pasture. Oops, that’s not a coyote. Ollie on the move. The deer have been scarce. This is one of the few pictures I’ve gotten. She looks well fed, but […]

Game Cameras — Highlights September
The month started with some really lovely summer weather. The deer are appearing; some looking better than others. There’s still one speckled fawn — but there isn’t a decent picture of him/her. The coyotes are still around. Nothing of them on the driveway this month. But they made the other two cameras. Only one bear sighting. I’m […]
Return of the Deer…
… and pretty much no one else. We’ve had only a little bit of snow so far this winter. The deer don’t seem to mind. Gizmo was ecstatic. The buck is back and looking better than ever. Lots of other pictures of deer browsing and what not. Mostly in the early evening. But there aren’t any pictures […]
Something new on the cameras
We got a new sighting on the cameras. The owl. He’s a big guy and we hear him almost every night. He’s also taken a chicken or two. (harumph) The usual crowd was also around. Coyote, bobcat, deer, and a bunny. No sign of the bears in the middle of the winter.
Things in the Woods June 2018
We’ve switched one of our cameras to record video. We’re experimenting with the length of recording. Trying to figure out what’s the best compromise between capturing the action and saving on the battery life. It’s looking like 15 seconds might be the sweet spot. Here’s a compilation of interesting things that we saw in June. We’re getting […]
Things in the woods, August 2018
There are the usual things in the woods. The coyote has been seen on both cameras (video and still) and the bear is still around. Also the first pictures of Bucky. He’s got a nice thing going on with his antlers this year. And what will probably be the last mowing of the year for […]
Lions, and tigers, and bears.
Actually mountain lions and little tigers and of course the bears. Well the big predators are back. There’s about a 20 minute gap between the time the cougar showed up on the still camera by the manure pile and the time (he/she?) shows up on the video camera in the forest on the other side of the […]
New Guy in Town — October 2018
We have a fine looking buck on the property. The usual suspects — coyote, bear, and bobcat. And a first for us — a raccoon caught on the camera.
Winter Report
Winter was rather extreme this year. There was a lot of snow in February. We saw a lot of the coyotes. There seem to be three traveling together. Winter Later in the spring we see the first of the bear and more of the coyotes and raccoons. Early Spring
